On a SATURDAY! The sun is actually shinning, the ground isn't a quivering mass of mud. The birds are singing and I even think I heard a cricket when I was walking the dog!
I will soon have to break the peaceful sound of nature with the cacaphony of the lawnmower, string trimmer and power edger! Damn I miss David being home and doing some of this crap!
I hope it stays dry so they can have the Car show that was cancelled last Saturday.
Have a great day VR!
it's amazing how the change to the status system revealed the validity of something I just recently learned.
In the training class I just completed one of the day long sessions was on the topic "Managing Change". A Psychological model of how people deal with change was put forth so that we can better understand how the people who work in our organizations deal with the changes we bring when transitioning to "Lean Managment".
It is interesting to me to see how this theory was pretty much spot on when used to consider the way the members of Vampire Rave have been dealing with the changes Cancer implemented in the ratings system.
The theory states that people must go through 4 stages when confronted with a change, Denial, Resistance, Exploration and Acceptance. Each person goes through these stages at their own pace, and spend variable amounts of time in each stage.
This is how I saw the reactions in journals and forum threads:
Denial:
The first reaction most people had was "This is stupid, no change was needed". I saw hundreds of posts in the forums and in journals to this effect. "Nothing was wrong with the old system" etc. People couldn't accept that the system they were so ingrained with changed seemingly instantly.
Resistance:
This was also seen in forum posts, journal entries etc. It's still going on regarding the penalties for being on block lists. People blatently complaining about this, saying how their behavior won't change, they don't agree. Just read the Status System thread in the forum to see evidence of "resistance".
Exploration:
Many members are giving the new system a work out. Seeing what actions they can take to increase their status. Checking out the block lists to see if they are subject to a block penalty. In my estimation the silent majority of VR members are now in this phase of he change or have moved on to.
Acceptance:
Some members have already fully accepted the changes and are "working" it to their advantage. Removing people from their block lists, making amends for past disputes to get themselves unblocked. Changing the activities they participate while online to maximize their bonus scores.
It's amazing to me that the theories I learned to help me in my job played themselves out in such a textbook fasion here on a Vampire affinity site on the internet!

Spot on :)
Right before I was promoted to supervisor my boss had me read "Who Moved my Cheese" it covered the different ways people handle change and helped me a lot when I did become the boss because one of my first challenges was a complete overhaul of our system. omg it was spot on and right with what you've just said too.
VR is mah therapy!
Good application of theory to situation. :)
I just got home from the graduation ceremony and "Manufacturing Summit" from the "Lean Champion" class i just completed.
It was held at a Country Club, just outside of Philly.
So, I have an "attractive" acrylic thingamabob with my name on it now.
The good part?
The 2 hour open bar and "Networking session" as well as the meal, Filet Mignon, Shrimp stuffed with crab meat, grean beans and potatos,,,,mmmm!!!
Yesterday afternoon I got out of my training course and went to get im my car.
I didn't have my keys....They were in the ignition of my car, which, of course, was locked! Lucily a guy at the cell phone mobile installation place next door had a slim jim and was able to break in!
I took off, heading for South Philly to meet Gina and the rest of the clan.
As I was heading down I-95 a strange sight appeared in the sky...A bright glowing yellow orb. It caused heat to spread and the puddles to dry up and actually cheered everyone's mood!
I met the crew on South Street. We visited some of our favorite shops in the area, Passional, Crash Bang Boom, Digital Ferrett etc. We aslo picked up tickets for VNV Nation in July at the TLA. We then had a nice early dinner at our favorite Indian Restaraunt "Lovash". MMM I had Tandoori Lamb Kebabs Delishious!
After dinner we walked around a bit more then hopped in the car (The rest had taken the train in to the city) and drove down Broad Street to the Spots Complex. We had tickets to see the Phillies play the Orioles. So we sat through 8 1/2 inning of poor play by the Phils then headed home. We had fun anyway ans it's always nice to get out to the ballpark on a NICE day / evening.
All in all it was very nce to see the sun. But it's pouring rain again today! I guess the big car show on Main Street in our town won't be happening today!
I think it has rained every day for the past 3 weeks here.
Things are getting soggy, the grass is taking over the yard and it's too mushy to cut it. The cars need washing, bushes need trimming and the forcast calls for....rain!
I think Seattle has been moved to Pennsylvania!
Liam (Chrissy's fiance') had to return the rental car he had from his car being totaled by the drunk driver a couple weeks ago. I went to pick them up at the rental agency and take them to a car dealer where they were trying to decide on what car to buy with the settlement.
The rental lot was packed with cars, I drove in , turned around and was going to park along the exit drive to wait for them. There was a brand new Toyota Camry parked, jutting out into the drive. I was trying to avoid hitting the curb on the drivers side....Instead I hit the Camry with the passanger side of my car. The Toyota got a scrapped up bumber, I have a huge dent and scrapped off paint on the front door, rear door and behing the rear door!
Si I got to wait to talk with the rental guys, fill out forms, talk to my insurance company and have a nice chat with the policeman who came, as the rental agency is required to get a Police Report for any incidents involving their vehicles!
Lucky for me we just reached "Diamond Status" with out insurance Company and now have "Accident Foriveness"!
COMMENTS
Why do I have this nagging feeling anytime Liam gets near one of your cars it ends up with dents? *runs*
WooT to accident forgiveness! O.o man I hate how these things happen sometimes...
Today I saw a photo of the guard who was the victim of the shooting at the Holocaust museum.
A few weeks ago I visited the Holocaust Museum with my family. I had a conversation with this fallen hero while waiting for Gina and Chrissy to get through the security screening of their purses. He made a comment to me about David's green mohawk and we shared a laugh and some commentary about today's youth. Just a chance encounter...Who would ever think that I would read about him giving his life to protect others. I mean, he was a guard at a MUSEUM! A fucking museum!
How can such hateful, narrow minded SOBs be walking around amongst us?
COMMENTS
It's just as well we have the hero's among us too.
That is so sad...
I couldn't agree with Bloodlife more... It is just sad that the SOB's seem to get more of the spotlight than the heros.
I believe there is a very special reward for those who perform such selfless acts, in the afterlife.
There are also truly evil people such as the horrible man who did this.
I logged onto VR last night after a long meeting of church Elders. I figured I would get through reviewing the newest profiles, check messages and forums etc.
THEN, my eyes drifted to the Vamp Box and I was sucked in like a whirlpool. Two rum soaked friends with a Tequila pickled cohort enticed me into spending my time chatting away rather than doing anything "productive". Then a Regent showed up and just made matters worse!
It reminded me of all the real fun that used to abound every time I logged in.
Thanks folks!
I was trying to decide what to post regarding our recent trip to Salem. I decided it would be most appropriate to put up the photos I took of the Memorial stones dedicated to the victims of the witch hysteria as well a a brief note regarding each victim.

Anne Pudeator>
Hanged September 22. 1692
Executed on Sept. 22, 1692, the widow Ann Greenslit Pudeator was one of the seven unfortunate victims of the final hanging on Gallows Hill during the Salem witch trials. Highlights from her trial included the usual testimony of the circle of accusing girls that Ann had afflicted them in "spectral" form. John Best, Sr. also accused Ann of having murdered his wife, whom Ann had served as a nurse. Mary Warren went to the extreme of implicating Pudeator in the deaths of four people. Historian Carol Karlsen speculates that Pudeator may have been targeted due to her profession as a midwife that placed her in direct competition with male care providers, as well as her defiance of the Puritan female gender ideal of meekness and submission to male authority.

A preliminary examination took place on May 31, 1692 at Nathan Ingersoll's house in Salem Village. This was Redd's first meeting with the children she allegedly bewitched. Margaret Scott
Hanged September 22, 1692
Margaret Scott was the only person to be accused of being a witch from Rowley during the Salem trials. This was mainly due to the fact that community members long thought of her as a witch. She most likely was suspected of witchcraft because of her low stature in the community, the number of child fatalities ,long widowhood, and begging; all common traits among people accused of witchcraft.
Samuel Wardwell
Hanged September 22, 1692
The fact he was found guilty is not surprising, as he had dabbled in fortune telling as a young man, had family members who were disliked in Andover, and had married a woman whom many did not think he was worthy of marrying. During his court examination, he confessed to being a witch by submitting a long and detailed story of his indiscretions in order to save his life. His conscience and personal courage led him to recant the story and claim innocence, knowing the risk involved.

Thank you I will manage to visit there myself one of these days.
Really cool history lesson. Thanks for sharing!
How sad. Make you thankful for todays courts and the understanding people have now on the subject. Thank you for sharing all this Bull- show how much it meant to you.
Here's the first of my photos from our trip to Salem. I am working on another post, but it may be a while...In the meantime enjoy.....
The Paparazza of the Dead!
Gina and I just got back to our hotel room after bidding goodbye to Faeriemoon in Salem. She is on her way to here friend's place in New Hampshire for the night, then tommorrow she drives to NY to start a new chapter in her life. Bet sure to keep her safe Mori and Birra!
We had a great day getting dragged through every witch shop in Salem by Gina. We saw Laurie Cabot, but didn't get to talk to her. I actually got to see the memorial to the victims of the 17th century witch hysteria (It was swampped with ignorant 'touristas' back in October) as well as the graveyard of Old Salem.
We had a great lunch at an English style pub AND the weather cleared up so we had a nice warm sunny afternoon.
Some pictures and more commentary perhaps tomorrow night or Monday.

WOOT! Can't wait to see the pictures. :)
you are so lucky , I would love to meet her , I do talk to her on the net ( she has her own site ,) but have never meet her. Glad you had a good time , waiting to see pictures.
She is such a wonderfully real person that it's a true joy to talk with her. I'm envious of your tour though! :)
Well, first off I wasn't able to take the whole day off tomorrow as my Boss already had the day scheduled off (Which he told no one) and he commited ME to attend a meeting with the Big Cheeses in his place. So I'm taking off at Noon (or 11:30 if my normal 11:00 meeting is wrapped up on time).
Then Gina and I will be hopping in the car and driving up to Massachusetts. We are going to Salem for the weekend. Gina has some herbs and stuff she needs to get from one of the stores in town, she, of course, wants to go see Laurie Cabot again and we are planning to go through The House of Seven Gables if there are not too many people there.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that the lovely FM will be meeting up with us there and we will be able to drag her along with us.
In any case we WILL be pigging out on New England Seafood on Saturday night!
I promise to take some photos!
So I'm driving to work and there are all of these signs at the highway exit for work. With "TLA" and arrows. Further up the road at the intersection before my employer's driveway there are signs pointing each way on the intersecting road. "BASE CAMP" and an arrow to the right, "EXTRAS" and an arrow to the left, "Crew Parking" and another right arrow.
It turns out that M. Night Shyamalan is filming a movie in a quarry just down the road from where I work. It is movie version of the Kids cartoon "Avatar, The last Airbender". Apparently they have transformed the quarry into a Chinese village!
How wild is that?
